Back on the Derg Track.

Leo

Summer has finally come around, which leaves plenty of time for Derg City. Here is a list of augmentations I made to the code yesterday.

|::| - Added major functionality to the entity editor.

|::| - Added entity dropping functionality to the map editor

|::| - Augmented map editor's save and load functions to accommodate the use of entities.

|::| - Augmented map editor's map compile function to include entity files and their respective bitmaps within the compiled map file.

|::| - Added a new rendering function to the Derg Graphics API that allows a priority label to be assigned to rendering tasks, making it possible to render graphics in any order desired regardless of the order of the render commands in the actual code.

|::| - Augmented client map load function to accommodate entities.

|::| - Augmented client rendering function to allow for entity "layers".

Here are some screens of the entity layers in action.

Don't mind the rough graphics, remember that they are placeholders. More updates will come later.

It's coming along.

Leo

Development has entered a slump, as I've been bombarded with other tasks. High school is ending, and I have to take care of all the important things (prom, college, making up work, attacking my enemies) and so Derg City hasn't had that much attention. This is changing though. I am finishing up the Derg City construction utility which will be used by me and my will-be City Construction Team to build the locations and towns in Derg City. Here are some screens. Click to enlarge.

Hopefully, development will get back on a steady track pretty soon, but in the meantime, bear with me. Also, visit the forum please :).

Derg City site up and running.

Leo

The site is in the works. The forums have been fixed so that users are able to register and post. Though, there is believed to be a problem regarding the confirmation e-mails due to complications with phpbb's use of the mail() function. Hopefully these kinks will be corrected and everything will be in working order. While we're attempting to be as comprehensive as possible with the site, certain areas (ie "The City" section) will not be completely functioning until the first open beta is released. Until this time, bare with us.

Derg City's main artist Justin Marin, has been sharpening his skills, and we may or may not be modifying Derg City to function through an isometric, pixelart engine, however such modifications could contribute to substantial release delays and we're still considering the benefits and drawbacks.

Here are some concept images.

Finally, as stated above, the forums are up and running. As a temperary solution to the confirmation e-mail situation, the confirmation e-mail will be disabled until we can approach a more appropriate solution. Click the Forum button above in the navbar to be directed to the forums.
